I’ll admit that my family and I don’t really celebrate Christmas. My parents came to the US from India about a year before I was born, and they never really grew up celebrating Christmas. We had a fake Christmas tree that we used for a couple of years, but that tradition ended quickly. I was never disappointed or bothered by our lack of commitment to the holidays. Even though we’re not festive, we enjoy spending time together.
We did have one tradition. Every year, we’d go admire the San Francisco Bay Area’s Christmas lights. We’d visit local parks and neighborhoods that truly went all out. Of course, my family would never decorate. We’re all pretty athletically-challenged…
