WEATHER watchers have tipped a near-perfect Christmas Day - if you live in Perth.
Western Australia's capital can look forward to a warm maximum of 33C forecast for the year's biggest festive day, according to PerthNow.
But despite the sunny outlook for Perth, there is a hint of a late change' which could affect the 33C forecast.
"Although we are over a week out, computer models are starting to agree on what we should expect for the 25th," said Martin Palmer, meteorologist for weatherzone.com.au.
“All in all, it looks likely to be a mixed bag for the country, cool and showery in the south-east and east, drier and warmer in the south and west."
Sydney – Chance of a shower 24C
A trough is expected to move through New South Wales on Christmas Eve, bringing a showery cooler change to much of the state. Sydney is likely to see onshore, southeasterly winds on Christmas day, with the potential for a few showers and temperatures hovering in the mid twenties.
Canberra – Increasing sunshine 25C
A trough should clear Canberra by the big day itself with a high pressure ridge pushing in and clearing skies. Temperatures will remain just below average in the mid twenties.
Melbourne –Showers clearing 23C
A high will move in from the west, bringing an increasingly dry and sunny day. Temperatures will be a little below average sitting in the low twenties.
Hobart – Dry 21C
As a high moves in from the west, winds will drop away and skies should begin to clear. Top temperatures in the low twenties.
Adelaide – Sunny spells developing 28C
A high in the Bight looks likely to ridge eastward, driving drier southeasterly winds over South Australia. This should deliver a pleasant day for Adelaide with maximums peaking just above average in the high twenties.
Darwin – Chance of a storm 30C
Given that the wet season is in full swing it would be safe to assume that Darwin is likely to see some rainfall. Model data does indeed suggest the risk of a storm or two about, although at the moment maximums could be a touch below average, in the low thirties.
Brisbane – Chance of a late storm 29C
A trough is due to arrive during the 25th and conditions could vary significantly depending on the exact timing of its arrival. Presently a warm day is forecast with the chance of a few storms developing later in the afternoon.
